With extraordinary guitar playing at the root, Waaju believe in highlighting the world's connection through less familiar creative collaboration. Encapsulating influence from a number of cultures across Africa, South America & beyond, their sound is as unique as it is influenced - languid, sweaty & groove-able.
The vision of drummer & percussionist Ben Brown, they draw on the exceptional spirit of the likes of Ali Farka Toure, Oumou Sangare, Tinariwen & Baba Sissoko. We can't wait to bring them to Cardiff.
Here is a recent interview that Lloyd (Gwdihw) had with Waaju, talking afro-beats, Ali Farka Touré and their new LP ... Gwdihw Blog: Waaju
